Fall Fishing & Hunting

Guests are often surprised to learn that Loch Island Lodge is open until mid-September (closing on September 11, 2018 this season) and we then move full dock, housekeeping, and kitchen services down to Camp Lochalsh, where you can fish on Wabatongushi Lake until the end of October.

Fall fishing offers refreshingly cool temperatures, a colourful change in boreal scenery, and ideal spots close to Camp Lochalsh, such as Housekeeping Point and Bear Point. The atmosphere is laid-back, and the lake is quiet. The Northern Lights are the most common between early September to late October and are a spectacular end to a day of walleye and northern pike fishing. For guests wishing to hunt small game, we offer a Fin & Feather Package that allows ruffed grouse (partridge) and spruce hen hunting–– along with all the features of our fishing packages, including an 18′ cedar strip boat with a 15 h.p. electric start motor and unlimited gas. The hiking trail to Manitou Mountain is easily accessible through the logging trails near Camp Lochalsh and provides an amazing lookout over the fall forest, and there are many off-roads and trails to explore in the old mining town of Lochalsh.

If you want to experience a different Wabatongushi Lake, contact us today for a fall booking at Camp Lochalsh! Don’t forget that your second trip of the year is 25% OFF and your third trip of the year is 50% OFF! (Discount applies to individuals who previously visited in 2018, not the whole group rate or new group members).
