2026 Fall Closing and Season Recap

It’s officially fall and the 2026 fishing season is over. We’ve started closing up our cabins around the lake, taking boats out of the water, and tucking them away for the winter. It’s always a bittersweet time of year as the season comes to an end. This season flew by but it was amazing as always! We enjoyed seeing familiar and new faces and getting to hear all your fishing stories. Behind the scenes this summer we have made some major updates to Camp Lochalsh, Loch Island, Isle of Jordan, and Sandy Bay!

Camp Lochalsh

Starting this season we offered limited dock service at Camp Lochalsh. Gerry and Oliver, a returning staff member from our 2022 season, have both taken on this role seamlessly. Fueling and pumping out your boats, cleaning and packaging any of your catch from the day, and greeting you on the dock with a smile. If you have any questions or need anything during your stay, Oliver and Gerry are always happy to help! This service has made a noticeable change at Camp Lochalsh especially with the brand new docks!

In July, we had a well drilled at Camp Lochalsh. After a little bit of work to set up the system, the camp now has a deep water well! The drillers went through 100 feet of bedrock and now we have crystal clear, cold drinking water.

Loch Island

Some of our docks on Loch Island needed some updating. The U docks had been missing the bridge between them for a couple of years and one of them needed to be rebuilt. The staff worked hard building and filling new cribs with rocks, and putting the top boards on. We also added an additional dock at Loch Island. This dock helps us add a little more space for boats!

The bedroom renovation in Cabin 6 on Loch Island has been completed! We took out the door and replaced it with some new logs and tied it together with a new ceiling, brightening up the room. It’s now entirely heated with a propane wall heater. A third bed was also added, making a total of five beds instead of four in Cabin 6! This was needed, allowing the cabin to be more functional.

Isle of Jordan

Isle of Jordan is one of our most popular locations. Along with the new deck and a couple of new docks that were added in previous seasons, an extra bed was added to the front room. The cabin now has one double bed and nine twin beds (three are in the loft), making a total of ten beds!

Sandy Bay

The dock at Sandy Bay was replaced in 2024 and we decided the location needed some more changes. The bathroom was our main focus this season. We removed the hot water tank which added more space to the bathroom and replaced both the sink and shower. It’s much more functional now and looks a lot better! We redid the plumbing and added new flooring to both the bathroom and kitchen. The fridge was new in 2025 and a new oven was added in this year. We hope you all enjoy these changes! In the future, we want to update Sandy Bay more including removing the propane lights and replacing them with LEDs, along with replacing the kitchen countertops and sink. At this location, you’re immersed in nature on the mainland, with plenty to explore and discover! This season a group staying at Sandy Bay spotted a couple of moose along the shoreline!

Catch and Release Fish Contest

The fish contest is almost over! We have had lots of entries this season and it was amazing to see all the walleye and pike that were released back. There are 2 categories: walleye and pike. If you catch and release any walleye over 24″ or any pike over 28″ you can be entered into the contest. There will be a draw with all of the entries for a chance to win some prizes. Stay tuned!
