The summer’s end comes with many new projects around the lake

Another successful season has passed! Although we are still doing some maintenance projects around the lake, the lodges are closed down. Water lines are drained, boats are cleaned and stored for the winter and outboards have been winterized. There is so much to do in the fall, it takes much more time to close than it does to open in the spring. This year is especially time consuming given all the projects we have undertaken to improve our facilities. We’ll resume work on inside projects once the ice is safe, which is typically in late January.

It’s that time of year when we are all hunkered down inside, spring is just around the corner and thoughts turn to summer at Wabatongushi Lake! We thought, given the cold spell that just went through, it would be a good time to revive our mystery spot series! See if you can name the spot below and if you get it right, we’ll give you a shout out and a pat on the back for your keen knowledge of the lake! Leave you guesses in the comments below….

This week’s Mystery Spot:

Announcing Monthly Photo Contest!

We’re looking for good photos of the lake! If you have any from the last few years, fish, landscapes, people, wildlife, etc., forward them to us! As an incentive, give us permission to use those photos and we’ll enter you in a monthly drawing to win free Loch Island clothing! Our first give away will be on March 1st, so send those photos in now! Send your contest photos every month for potential use on our site and social media to — photos@lochisland.com … Can’t wait to see the great photos of your upcoming and past trips to the lake.

The New Fly Fisher Episode is Live & 2018 Season Photos / Contest

You can now view the new episode of The New Fly Fisher TV show, when last June Mark Melnyk and crew came by rail to visit our lodge and some of our portage lakes for some great Brook Trout fishing with our guide Ryan.  They experienced our unique shore lunch offering walleye-wings, with Taylor at the fire.  You don’t have to head to the portage lakes to get some great, solitary fishing – as our big lake is full of prized Walleye, Northern Pike, Whitefish, Perch and more.  Other travel options available to get to us.  The video shows the wilderness adventure that awaits you…
