The summer’s end comes with many new projects around the lake

Another successful season has passed! Although we are still doing some maintenance projects around the lake, the lodges are closed down. Water lines are drained, boats are cleaned and stored for the winter and outboards have been winterized. There is so much to do in the fall, it takes much more time to close than it does to open in the spring. This year is especially time consuming given all the projects we have undertaken to improve our facilities. We’ll resume work on inside projects once the ice is safe, which is typically in late January.

Beginning of the 2024 Season! And New & Bigger Dining Room!

Hey everyone!

It’s been about two weeks since opening day and we couldn’t be happier to have guests back on the island and at the outpost locations! Guests have been catching plenty of fish including pike, walleye, small mouth bass, and perch. The guests have also spotted moose in Patterson Bay along with a mama bear and her two cubs. Before opening we made the long journey from camp down to Powassan Ontario to pick up three new cedar strip boats! The drive was about 9 hours one way, and we spent the night in North Bay. On the way back we spotted a bull moose on the side of highway 519 on the way to Dubreuilville.

Ultimate Sport Show – Grand Rapids!

Just one day till the opening of the Ultimate Sport Show Grand Rapids! This is the grand daddy of sport shows and we’ll be there! Stop by and say hello, we’ll be in booth 1204. The show runs Thursday, March 7th through Sunday, March 10th. The Devos Place is right downtown on the Grand River, close to all kinds of Restaurants and Pubs. There will be a great collection of tackle and fishing seminars throughout the show.

With the mild weather that we’ve been experiencing this winter, it looks like the lake will be opening up much earlier than normal. That will give us lots of time to work on projects before opening day, May 18th. We’re all excited to get back into camp! Much of our crew from last season is returning, so you’ll all see a lot of familiar faces!

Another Load of building supplies for the new dining room on Loch Island!

We still have dates open this year, so if you are not booked yet, give us a call, e-mail  or stop by the Grand Rapids show so we can get you in the book!

Winter at Lochalsh and Loch Island – with Video!

It’s our first trip into camp this winter and so far, it’s been pretty easy going. You never really know what to expect on the first trip in, we did have a tree down on Loch Island, but no damage thank goodness. We are working on the inside of the new dining room at Loch Island and living down at Lochalsh. The ice is much thinner than normal, only about a foot, but it’s still good for traveling via snowmobile. Slush and air holes are all over, so you have to be careful! This video and photos show what it looks like…
