Located on the extreme southern end of Wabatongushi Lake, Camp Lochalsh is 5 miles south of Loch Island Lodge (where you can boat to for meals if desired) and only 1.5 miles from Otter Island or Sandy Bay. The camp has 5 cabins, all of which boast 3- or 4-piece baths, 24/7 direct line electricity, and thermostatically controlled electric heat.
With accommodations that can hold up to 22 people, this housekeeping plan lodge offers some very unique options for guests. Larger groups can take advantage of cooking in the kitchen/dining hall instead of their individual cabins. The “trappers lounge” is an eclectic log building full of nostalgia sure to delight any seasoned northern guest.
Camp Lochalsh sits conveniently on the mainland, just inside the Chapleau Crown Game Preserve. The Canadian Pacific Railway is just a quarter-mile south of camp and is the southern border of this massive wildlife refuge. Camp Lochalsh offers Black Bear and Moose hunting in the fall, adjacent to the preserve.
The wide variety of packages and outdoor recreation opportunities make Camp Lochalsh much more than just a fishing and hunting camp.
While visiting us, ask about our hiking, mushroom hunting, wildlife tours, and abandoned gold mine adventures. There is so much to explore at Camp Lochalsh!
Our horseshoe pit and basketball hoop will keep children busy in the daytime while ping pong, board games, cards, and fish stories keep everybody occupied in the Trappers Lounge at night. Bonfires in our lakeside firepit at night are legendary!
If you’re looking for a resort for the entire family, or just your fishing buddies, Camp Lochalsh will not disappoint you!
Camp Lochalsh offers all the comforts of home. Every cabin has thermostatically controlled electric heat, hot and cold running water, 3- or 4-piece bath and 24/7 direct line electricity. Now that’s comfort!
Cabin 1 (The George Pierrot Cabin)
This cabin is named after its most famous yearly inhabitant, George Pierrot, who regularly visited Camp Lochalsh in the 1960s with his World Adventure Series television show.
Cabin 1 is horizontal log construction — the only one of its type at Camp Lochalsh. It has two bedrooms, a 3-piece bath and a glassed-in porch with a fantastic view of the lake.
Close proximity to the docks and horseshoe pit make this cabin an ideal cabin for those with walking difficulties.
Cabins 2 & 3
Newly renovated, these cabins have full kitchens with all stainless steel appliances. They feature 2 bedrooms, each of which include both a king and a twin bed, and a 4-piece bath.
These cabins face the lake, with a beautiful afterglow deck right in front of Cabin 2, making either one a great place to relax after a long day on the lake or in the woods.
Cabins 4 & 5
These two units face north, up the lake toward Otter Island and Bear Point. They feature large screened-in porches, with decks for entertaining and enjoying a before-dinner or end-of-day cocktail.
Cabin 4 has a 3-piece bath. Cabin 5 has a 4-piece bath.
This cabin sleeps 3-4 people. It includes a large screened-in porch and lies on a hill behind the Trappers Lounge. Close to the dining room and Trappers Lounge, this cabin is ideally situated for those who like to hang out there at night.
Cabin 6 has a three-piece bath and — because of its elevation — a view of the lake.
This is one of our In-camp Housekeeping cabins. This large log building sleeps 8 in its three bedrooms. It features a large kitchen/ dining room and a big deck for entertaining.
Cabin 7 has a three-piece bath and is very popular with returning guests.
