If you haven’t been to Loch Island in a while, you’ll be amazed at what we’ve done in the last 6 months! The entire island is now connected via boardwalks! It all started with a replacement deck on Cabin 3. The old porch was very small and needed to be upgraded. While looking at it, we decided to go big or go home! With a brand new 8′ X 16′ deck on the cabin and a connecting walkway, it was looking good! It was then we figured, “why not do them all?” and that’s what we did.
After Cabin 3, we went on to do decks on Cabins 2 and 6. On 6, we added French doors to the back of the cabin to access the deck. Adding those big French doors greatly increased the light in Cabin 6 and made entry to the private deck a breeze. Cabin 6 is also now connected to the rest of the island by two boardwalks, one at each door. This makes it more accessible.

Also new for 2018 are a new roof and footings on Cabin 1 at Camp Lochalsh. This classic horizontal log cabin has lots of history at Camp Lochalsh. We added a metal shingle roof that looks great and is strong enough to withstand northern Ontario’s wind, rain, and snow. The cabin is still in great condition and now with the new roof and footings, it’s sure to be around for many more years!
All in all, we made a bunch of great improvements at all of our locations. Stay tuned next year as we have a lot more planned!
